Using Broadcast, local authorities can effortlessly define roles tailored to your school's structure and specific needs. These roles serve as customisable templates, allowing schools to assign them to relevant staff members easily.
Defining roles for your schools to use empowers local authorities to distribute files efficiently, ensuring that crucial information reaches the right individuals with precision and ease.
This guide will explain the administrative side of roles; for more information about sending files to specific roles, click here.
Setting up Roles
To define a role that your schools can use to assign staff, navigate to Broadcast, click Admin and then click View Roles within the School Roles panel.
Here, we display all the currently active roles in your LA. There are three default roles that cannot be changed, these are Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and Assistant Head Teacher.
The Head Teacher role automatically links to the person registered as the Head Teacher on the school's Perspective account.
Those three roles will always be available for schools to assign to staff. Please note that staff must first be in the school's SLT in Perspective to be assigned one of those three roles.
To create a new role, click New Role.
Enter the role name and click Add Role.
The role will then be created and displayed in your roles list and all the school's Perspective accounts, as shown below.
Editing & Deleting a Role
If you need to edit a role, click Edit and make the required changes. Your schools will be notified of any role name changes via their Roles page in Perspective.
To delete a role, click the delete icon alongside it, one of three things will happen.
If the role isn't in use on an active file request and hasn't been assigned by any staff in Perspective accounts, you'll simply be able to confirm the delete by clicking Yes, Delete Role.
If the role isn't in use on an active file request but has been assigned by staff in Perspective, you'll be afforded the chance to reassign all users with that role over to another existing role
If the role is in use on an active file request, you are unable to delete it and those file requests must be closed or invalidated before you can remove this role.
