Broadcast permissions help Local Authorities manage access with confidence and clarity. There are three main permission levels, with specific modular access underneath. These settings allow you to control exactly who can view, manage, and configure different parts of Broadcast, ensuring the correct people have the right level of access.
To maintain a user's permissions, you must have the Can Add, Delete and Manage Users permission in Nexus. Users with this permission should hover over Admin and select Users. There, select a user and click the Privileges tab, before scrolling to the Broadcast panel.
Module Access
Broadcast has three main permissions which determine a user's access to the system. We refer to the top level as Module Access:
Denied: The user cannot access Broadcast.
Standard: The user has access to Broadcast but does not have administrative permissions.
Manager: The user has access to Broadcast and can administer teams, roles and groups.
Once you've assigned one of these permissions, you can still tailor the submodules accordingly. For example, if you have a general admin, you can set them as a Broadcast Manager but limit their submodules, making them solely responsible for the teams, roles, and groups, but not having any access to files shared with or received from schools.
Please note that having the Broadcast Manager permission doesn't grant someone access to manage users' privileges and access. User permissions are always maintained by the overarching Nexus Administrators with the Can Add, Delete and Manage Users permission.
Sub-Module Access
At the next level down, we have Sub-Module Access. These are the individual modules within Broadcast that a user can access.
This layer allows you to be in complete control. You can manage access at a modular level, meaning you decide exactly which parts of the system each user can see and use. Whether it's limiting access to File Requests or Confidential Files, you can customise visibility based on roles and responsibilities.
This ensures users only see what’s relevant to them, enhancing security and streamlining workflows.
Finally, the Can Access from School Dashboard permission allows a user to access and view files currently available to schools via their School Dashboard inside Nexus. More information on this can be found by reading this guide.
When you add or remove a permission, the system automatically saves your choice.
